Herma’s News – Labour Day Weekend Fun, NEW Gift Wrap Policy and the Virtues of Goat’s Milk

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward. – Amelia Earhart

Beekman 1802 Goat’s Milk Products

Summer sun has been fun, however our skin may not have faired quite as well as our spirits. At Herma’s we suggest using Beekman 1802 for hydrating and healing your skin.

There is a reason that Beekman 1802 body-care products stand out among the rest as being superior and it all has to do with its key ingredient – pure goat’s milk.

Sulfate, Paraben, Petroleum & Phosphate Free. Clean and simple. Just like country life. – Beekman 1802

Why is goat’s milk so great for our skin?

The chemical composition of goat’s milk closely resembles that of human breast milk. This allows it to be easily absorbed into the human body, which is important, because goat’s milk has the following fabulous benefits.

  • More Youthful Looking Skin – It contains alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic acid that break down dead skin cells, leaving behind new cells on the surface that appear smoother and more youthful.
  • Reduces Skin Inflammation – The fat molecules present in goat’s milk act as a moisturizer, soothing dry and damaged skin which gives it an anti-inflammatory effect.
  • Full of Essential Nutrients and Vitamins, like vitamin D, C, B1, B6, B12, and E, that feed our skin the nourishment our bodies desperately need.
  • Treats acne! – Studies now show that goat’s milk is effective for treating acne and skin conditions.

The Perfect Cheese Platter

To offer your friends and family the best in cheeseboards we have a few suggestions for this holiday weekend…

Choosing your cheese…

We suggest using 4 different cheeses on your cheese platter each representing a different category of cheese – firm, soft and semi-soft.

We suggest favourites like our Parmigiano-Reggiano from Italy and aged Mapledale Cheddars from Bellville, ON which are hard in texture and sharp in taste.

For balance we suggest a French Brie, such as Brie de Meaux, which is soft and luscious. You may want to complement your brie with nuts and even a little side of jam.

To round everything out, choose a young Gouda or some other lovely semi-soft cheese.

Herma’s Signature Products would also be nice on a cheese platter. Something like our Marinated Goat Cheese Rounds or Lemo-licious . Try placing in long-stemmed dish for the look of varying height.

General Rule

One to two ounces of cheese per guest is the general rule on how much to offer at a get-together.

All other Cheese Platter musts…

Consider meats. We suggest our Prosciutto and Fennel Salami. Fruits and veggies of the season also add colour and beauty to a platter and act as good fillers. Of course, don’t forget your crackers and bread!

Back to School Lunches

Cheeses, such as our Mapledale cheddars and gouda, would make a nice back-to-school snack. Consider creating mini shish-kebobs by alternating Fennel Salami with cheese and grapes on a toothpick. Also wrap prosciutto around breadsticks for fun effect (great idea for cheese platter as well).

We look forward to your visit and wish you all a happy and safe Labour Day weekend.

Sincerely,

Meredith Ender
