Herma’s News – Herma at Home – A Mid-Summer Night’s Meal

Dear Customers,

Herma loves entertaining, never more so than from the kitchen of her own home. This summer Herma has decided to share recipes and entertaining ideas that she has personally used. Recipes that are perfect served outside on a warm summer evening.

Herma at Home – A Midsummer Night’s Meal

Herma

This week’s meal plan consists of Herma’s favorites: BBQ Salmon, Grilled Vegetables, and Rummo Orzo Pasta. This combination of foods is simply delicious together and easy to prepare – just as summertime meals should be.

Rummo Orzo Pasta

  • Cook Orzo Pasta as per instructions for approximately 3-4 minutes. Drain and cool in large bowl.
  • Toss pasta in Itaca Limone Olive Oil. (It might be a bit sticky at first, but will loosen with the oil.)
  • Add finely chopped herbs like Italian Parsley, Dill, Thyme, Tarragon, Chives, and also Green Onions.
  • Add Al’Olivier Lemon Vinegar Pulp, Salt & Pepper to taste and arrange on your favorite platter.
When to prepare?

Prepare this dish the day or the morning before serving so that all flavours may meld together.

Tip: Olives and Sundried tomatoes may also be added to this salad.

Barbecue Salmon

Add Limone Olive Oil to Salmon and coat it with True North Seasoning (by Southwest).

Bake either in the oven or on the BBQ.

Vegetables

Toss vegetables of choice with your favourite olive oil along with a little balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper – or – choose from one of our many seasonings. Grill vegetables early in the day, if you like, and serve at room temperature.

Dessert

Complete this meal with one of our wonderful desserts from either the Village Grocer or La Rocca – or – simply sprinkle crushed Fraktal Chocolate over your favorite ice cream.

We hope you are able to enjoy this delicious summer dinner with friends and family at home also. This is a very easy meal that is refreshingly delicious.

On July 15th Herma has enthusiastically scheduled a time when she will be demonstrating how to create her Midsummer Night’s Meal, along with offering advice and a little tasting. Herma’s Cheese Platter

Now’s the time to create beautiful cheese platters! Be sure to ask Cathy and Jennifer for advice as to what cheeses will be perfect for entertaining. They will also be able to offer advice as to how to serve Herma’s Signature Products, condiments, charcuterie, and crackers.

Many of our cheeses are pre-cut and ready for purchase straight from our coolers, however some may need to be cut specifically to your liking. Whatever the case, we hope you have a fabulous weekend full of fun with family and friends.

Catered cheese platters may be created for your party or event. Please allow 24 hour notice so we may have everything available for your special platter. Just call 905-885-9250.
