Herma’s 27th Annual Christmas Open House

Saturday, November 12th between 10 a.m. & 4 p.m.

We look forward to kicking off the holiday season with you this Saturday as we offer all sorts of lovely foods and entertaining ideas that we hope will act as inspiration with your own entertaining in the days to come. Christmas shopping is also an extra-special, magical experience right now as Herma’s is all decked out for the holidays, brimming over with lovely, unique gifts and gourmet treasures.

Herma and Margaret along with special guest-chefs Zak of Prep and Herma’s daughter, Renee, will all be preparing some amazing foods for you to try this Saturday.

A little about our guests…

Zak Copeland

Zak’s business, Prep Food Company (prepfoodco.com), consists of a team of passionate cooks in Cobourg that prepare and deliver meal kits, cater events and offer delicious foods at his lunch counter. We had the pleasure of working with him in 2019/2020 when he prepared amazing holiday meals involving Turkey and Beef Wellington to order for pickup.

Renee Amir 

Renee, Herma’s daughter, is a talented chef in her own right and loves preparing food for others. She has witnessed the growth of Herma’s from its start 29 years ago, worked full time at Herma’s about 12 years ago and has occasionally performed food presentations, often specializing in Asian and Mediterranean cuisine.

*Note – Canapé is a small, often decorative hors d’oeuvre consisting of a small piece of bread (sometimes toasted) wrapped or topped with savoury food.

Herma’s Cheese Shop

Janis feels that our beautiful foods from Italy are spectacular, especially those hailing from Beppino Occelli. She’ll be sampling all sorts of Italian cheese, along with some boozy ones, and she may also allow you to see what’s inside one of our beautiful, fragrant fig balls – an extra-special holiday treat.

Herma is excited to have all her family, including me (not in photo, but behind camera), involved in the Open House this year. Be sure to look for her three granddaughters, now aged 7, 12 and 13, as they will be acting as little elves offering special treats and surprises throughout the store. Her talented son, Herman, will be tickling the ivories, supplying us with lively, festive music, and her son-in-law, Tomer, will be helping with foods as he was involved in the catering side of her business years ago.

We wish you a special day of Remembrance on the 11th and look forward to seeing you on the 12th as we welcome the holiday season to come.
