Cold or hot these plates will allow you to retain the temperature longer for amazing appetizers.

These appetizer plates are so versatile they may be placed in -20 Celsius and +270 Celsius. Emile Henry’s special ceramic allows the plates to retain their temperature. Once out of the oven your prepared appetizer will stay warm longer the way it was meant to be tasted. On the flip side if the boards are freezer-cooled, the board will keep seafood and iced fruit skewers cool and fresh longer.

Gourmet Finds – We recommend…

Kalios Olive Oil

Kalio’s olive oils are all made from the same kind of fruit, the Koroneiki which are grown and extracted from olive groves in the Peloponnese region of Greece. The difference between the three varieties we offer at Herma’s depends on when they are harvested, which in turn determines how fruity the oil becomes.
01: harvested in November – tastes of green fruit, vegetables, fresh nuts with notes of cut grass and tomato leaf – use with salads, vegetable plates, steamed vegetables
02: harvested in December – tastes of both green and ripe fruit with floral and hazelnut notes – use with fresh pasta, grilled fish and meat, marinade and salad dressing, cheese, home-made bread, humus

03: harvested in January – tastes of ripe fruit and almond notes – use with white fish, home-made mashed potatoes, baking, chocolate cake, roasted fruits

Janis has some amazing cheeses waiting for you in the Cheese Shop. Come see all that is waiting for you in our coolers great for picnics, summer nights at the cottage, grilling on the patio and parties with friends.

Grillou

The Grillou is a grilling cheese from Quebec made with a blend of goat and sheep milk, just as is the case for Halloumi cheese. Once grilled, the salted paste becomes soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.

The Grillou is available plain, seasoned with hot peppers or herbs.

San Simon da Costa D.O.P. Prestes

This tear-drop-shaped cheese from nortwest Spain is cured for 45 days and smoked with chips of birch. This award-winning cheese has a buttery, woodsy flavour and melts beautifully. We especially enjoy it melted on a hamburger or scattered over a salad. Try pairing with nuts and apples.

Other delicious cheese suggestions…

Burrata – Brillat-Savarin – Morbier – Pacific Wildfire – Graskaas Gouda – Saint Angel Triple Cream – Saint Andre – Tallegio D.O.P. – Pecorino Romano P.D.O. – Bleu de Chevre – Brie with Truffles

Be prepared! Corn season has arrived!

Find OXO Prep Peeler, Asparagus and Corn Steamer, Cobb Holders, Dream Farm’s award-winning Clongs Lite and Brizzle (for basting like with butter) at Herma’s.

What may be used with left over corn?

Try creating a delicious, hearty soup by adding fresh corn to a can of Bar Harbor’s Salmon Chowder or Clam Chowder. Add a little paprika. Mmm…delicious!

Have a fabulous weekend and don’t forget to stop by for some amazing shopping.
