Herma’s News – We long for the Cozy Days of Autumn!
Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse. – Henry Van Dyke
We long for the cozy days of Autumn. We miss the cold winds and frosty mornings. Even though we have been experiencing unusually hot days, time does not stand still. The hustle and bustle of holidays are coming and will march into our busy lives one by one. This includes Thanksgiving weekend which is just a week away. Be sure to find all you need at Herma’s – including hostess gifts.
Preparing for Thanksgiving
We have everything you need to make entertaining and celebrating with family and friends a wonderful experience.
Let’s make this Thanksgiving magical!
The Village Grocer Turkeys – Why so special?
The Village Grocer Turkeys are exceptional because they are healthy birds – free-range and eating as much healthy grain and corn as they like. The Village Grocer’s farm of choice also uses a gentler de-feathering process that better maintains the flavour of the turkey. We encourage you to order the Village Grocer Turkeys and Capons at Herma’s this Thanksgiving holiday so that you may enjoy Thanksgiving at its best.

St. Niklaus raclette is a special raw cow’s milk cheese from Switzerland. It has a very full flavor with a touch of spice. As the weather changes, we love the oozing goodness of melted cheeses. We consider this one to be exceptional.
1608 Charlevoix is a semi-firm cow’s milk cheese from Quebec that will enhance any cheese plate. Le 1608 uses milk from hardy Canadienne cattle, whose ancestors were brought to Canada from France between 1608 and 1670. This cheese has a full, barny aroma and tastes nutty at the rind with a complex, fruity flavour.
This is an exclusive, prize-winning sheep’s milk blue from the caves of Roquefort in France. It is a popular French cheese, reported to be a favorite of Emperor Charlemagne. The French philosopher Diderot stated that it is the cheese of kings and popes. It is very bluesy – sharp, tangy, and salty – just the way we like it.
Platters for Thanksgiving
Delicious artisan cheese and meats will certainly entertain guests when they are prettily displayed on rustic wooden boards. Also consider adding seasonable fruits, nuts, dips, and pates. Our cheese experts will be happy to share their ideas and suggestions on how to create the perfect platter.
Not just cheese…
