A fabulous Victoria Day Weekend is upon us. Not only are we excited about that and all it entails, but we also have a royal wedding to watch – giving us even more reason to celebrate. Here are a few ideas for entertaining and a couple of opportunities for savings during this festive weekend of fun.
Celebrating Prince Harry and Meghan’s Wedding
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is this Saturday, May 19th. Lots of intriguing, soon-to-be historical footage may be viewed on the telly throughout the day on Saturday. We think its a great time to throw a party.
What to feed your guests…
If you want to get classically British about it, you can’t go wrong with tea sandwiches, scones, clotted cream*, jam*, and a nice cup of tea*(* find at Herma’s). Queen Elizabeth Cake, Shortbread Cookies, Belgian Chocolate, Herma’s Signature Products, a nice cheese plate, and crackers would also be absolutely splendid for this grand occasion.

Victoria Day Weekend message from Cathy
Happy Victoria Day Weekend Cheese Lovers!
We are pretty pumped about the upcoming weekend here at Herma’s. So much is happening between the Royal Wedding at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning, to the yearly pilgrimage to the cottage and, of course, the lovely thoughts of getting down and dirty in the garden.
Charcuterie
Just in… Duck Prosciutto from Seed to Sausage along with Jesse Tree’s handmade Soppresata and Soppresata Picante from the Abruzzo region of Italy. You will be able to enjoy a sampling of these when you arrive here Friday and throughout the weekend.
Cheese
As always there will be cheeses available for tasting. Come in and try Murcia, a tasty Drunken Goat Cheese from Spain and a delightful Pecorino Romano PDO from Northern Italy. We did a tasting a few months ago of this wonderful cheese and you folks loved it for its taste, texture and price!
And FYI, we just received Back Forty’s delicious Calabogie Blue. Great on its own, but also fabulous crumbled over salads, hamburgers, and steaks.

The Weekender – Cheese & Charcuterie Tray
Serving 6 – 10 people; $75.00+tax
Let us do the work! We put together a beautiful tray and all you need to do is pick it up and supply the beer and wine!
This collection will include a delicious triple cream brie, a tasty Italian cows milk cheese that has been wine soaked called Bastardo D’Aglianico, along with the famous sheep’s cheese Pecorino Romano PDO. We will include a nice selection of crackers, fruit and our famous Italian Prosciutto from Tuscany that has been carefully aged 24 months in juniper berries.
Just call 905-885-9250 and ask for Cathy or Margaret. We will have it wrapped up beautifully for you and ready to go.
To ensure freshness, all orders must be submitted by 4pm on Friday May 18th. Please have your credit card available to secure order.
