Herma’s News – Thanksgiving
Best of all is it to preserve everything in a pure, still heart, and let there be for every pulse a thanksgiving, and for every breath a song. – Konrad von Gesner
Whether you are a guest for Thanksgiving dinner and need a hostess gift, are contributing a side dish or appetizer to a pot luck dinner, or are in charge of an entire feast, we hope you will allow us to provide you with what you need this Thanksgiving holiday.
Holiday Store Hours
We are open ALL WEEK prior to Thanksgiving Day, however we will be closed Thanksgiving Monday, October 10th.
The Village Grocer’s Turkeys & Capons – Truly the best!
Village Grocer Turkeys and Capons are of better quality than your typical turkey and capon. The birds, when they were alive, run free, eating lots of healthy grains and corn. The people that run the farm also use a gentler de-feathering process which allows for more flavour. These birds exceed expectation and are moist, tender, and full of flavour. Best of all! – there have been no artificial enhancements. 14-21 lbs, $3.69 lb

Thanksgiving Letter from Herma
The store is very close to my heart. Because of this, at Thanksgiving, I would like to say thanks to all the wonderful people who work so hard to make everything at the store run efficiently, meeting the high expectations I have for us to serve customers best. Those that I am thankful for are…
The Village Grocer who provides us each week with a vast selection of fresh foods.
Harry, my husband, who makes the long and arduous drive each week to pick up Village Grocer foods, cheeses, and Manoucher Bread to the store, always keeping us well stocked with gourmet foods.
Our cheese suppliers who provide us with the most fabulous cheeses along with all our other suppliers who provide a vast selection of products.
Our cheese and charcuterie team, Cathy, Janis, and Margaret, who are very knowledgeable about cheese and work hard to make the department run well.
Norah who uses her talent and hard work to create Herma’s Signature dips, spreads, and pates in our kitchen each week.
Barbara, who although retired, still is able to come to the store to aid Norah in her preparations.
Linda and Maureen at the front desk who allow me to feel confident that all is well at cash and that customers are cared for.
Gordon for taking on so many responsibilities in the front half of the store. You’ll not only find him at the front desk. He has been a godsend to me as he uses his creative and organizational skills to make the store run smoothly. And yes, he wraps and merchandises beautifully.
Taco for making my life so much easier by managing the warehouse and taking charge of kitchen gadgets and cookware.
Barry Mortin (m-design) our advertising manager who has worked many years in getting our name out there – our new web page @ hermas.ca is a good example.
Meredith, my daughter-in-law, for being my voice, writing the newsletter and working with our social media along with other tasks that allow you, our customers, to know what is going on in the store. I am always so pleased to find her filling in at the front desk from time to time.
Above all, I am thankful for you, wonderful customers, who allow me to be who I am – a person with imagination, lots of dreams, and a great deal of love for the world around me. For it is you who allow the store to exist.
It is my sincerest wish that you have a wonderful THANKSGIVING shared with family and friends.
Sincerely and with great thanks,
From all of us here at Herma’s, we wish you all the best as you make Thanksgiving preparations. We hope you will allow us to help you any way we can as you make plans to entertain.
