Baking with Emile Henry
Cozy up to autumn with homemade bread!
Make your home feel warm and cozy this Autumn by baking bread from scratch in your very own oven. In addition to supplying you and your guests with fresh loaves of bread, baking at home will fill your entire home with an organic aroma that can only occur, naturally, as you bake something special with love.
At Herma’s we carry Emile Henry dishes for baking that are made of the finest clay in France – a refractory ceramic that produces a generous crust and firm, airy inside
This dish uses the same technique as a traditional bread oven to bake delicious loaves. The curve in its lid exactly recreates the dome of traditional bread ovens, giving the bread the correct humidity level as it bakes.
Emile Henry Round Bread Baker
This round baking dish is similar to the cloche, above, except that it is flat on top without a handle. This allows you to turn the round lid upside down in order to use as a bowl for preparing dough.
Emile Henry Bread Loaf Baker
Emile Henry Baguette Baker
Its non-glazed ceramic promotes the creation of humidity and the holes on top also work toward creating a certain texture that is so prized by those that love baguette.
All Emile Henry baking dishes are dishwasher and microwave safe with a 10 year guarantee. They also come with special booklets full of tips, instruction and recipes.
And don’t forget! No bread is complete without Cow’s Creamery Butter from Prince Edward Island.
NEW at Herma’s
Manoucher Food Raisin Javaneh Loaf – This is a delicious cinnamon raison loaf made of wheat bread. Perfect cozy snack or breakfast bread that is delicious with a slice of cheese and melted butter. Only $2.99.
What better way to enjoy bread than to dip it into olive oil with a dash of balsamic vinegar. We carry over 20 of the best olive oils, including some that are infused with lemon, basil, truffle, rosemary and garlic.
Olive Oil of the Week
Galantino L’Affiorato Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The Galantino family has been producing olive oil from their groves in Puglia, Italy since 1926. This cold-pressed oil is filled with notes of green apple and green artichoke. It is perfect for drizzling over salads, whisking into a salad dressing or using with fresh vegetables.
Why is cold-pressed olive oil special?
Keeping olives cool during the production process ensures maximum quality, higher nutritional value and outstanding aroma and flavours.
Herma’s Cheese Shop
Colston-Bassett Blue Stilton is back. The flavour of this earthy Stilton is balanced by the richness of blue mould and butter. An award-winning cheese!
Two of your favourite British cheeses are also in the shop – Carnival, a white stilton with mango and ginger and a Wensleydale with Cranberries. From Ireland we have Cahill’s Porter, Cahill’s Irish Whiskey and Cahill’s Red Wine.
We hope you have a fabulous weekend and that you will be sure to stop and see us on your way to the Port Hope Fair.
