LETTER FROM CATHY AND JANIS

We are having a great time here in the cheese department planning events for the upcoming weeks ahead. The details and dates haven’t been completely nailed down, but look for Dutch Heritage Saturdays, Italian and French Festivals and great demos that will inspire you for the upcoming entertaining season ahead. Stay tuned via our emails, Facebook and Twitter!

Picobello Lovers – We have bad news and good news. This tasty Dutch cheese is no longer available as the company ran into some rough times, however we still have a beautiful piece left, so if you want some, come and get it while supply lasts.

Aged Gouda from Mountainoak Cheese in New Hamburg, Ontario.  Now we do have a good gift of the gab, but please go on to www.mountainoakcheese.ca to read their interesting history and why we are super excited to have this cheese available to us! It’s arriving on the weekend and you’ll be able to sample it on Saturday.

Bonnechere from the Back Forty Artisan Cheese Co. in the Ottawa Valley is back in stock. This wonderful sheep cheese  has a very distinctive feature in that the rind is toasted over an open flame before they age it. This gives the cheese a delicious caramel essence with a smokey hint. If your looking to pair it up with libation…go with a Baco Noir or Dark Ale!

Don’t forget about cheese accessories. We have new items coming in every week.

Harry’s Cheese Boards for instance…Harry has been busy creating new cheese boards in his workshop. All sizes available including extra large ones for rent. They come branded with Herma’s logo and are solid oak!

Just a reminder that our wonderful cheese trays for entertaining can be customized to your liking. We are happy to discuss your needs! Just drop in or call us at 905-885-9250.

Take care all,  Cathy and Janis (The Cheese Mongrels)
