We have had such a wonderful summer. Much of the joy we have experienced this season has come from providing our Food for Thought Luncheons. Special thanks to all who were able to attend. We value your support and would greatly appreciate any feedback you might be so kind as to give us. In the meantime, we have a wonderful new series of classes of which we would love for you to take part.

Thought it would be fun to bring in a couple of cheeses that we haven’t had in for a while. Kinda like getting reacquainted with an old friend…

Le Riopelle de I’Isle is back. A creamy beauty that hails from I’Isle-aux-Grues, a beautiful island in Quebec. The name came from the world famous painter Jean-Paul Riopelle who was gobsmacked by this beautiful place and agreed to have one of his paintings adorn the label. A sexy, creamy cows milk cheese that will melt in your mouth. Enjoy it with a glass Riesling or a Bourgogne! Cheers!!

Pied-de-Vent from the Magdalen Islands of Quebec is a semi soft pasty cows milk cheese that has a ton of character in one bite. Apparently, the hay produced on this island has a lot to do with its interesting flavour. This is a perfect choice for a cheese board and I’m going  to try and bring it in more often. Grab a bottle of your favourite Merlot then come in and get some of this amazing cheese.

Keeping with the French theme, we may as well fly over to France and make our way to the Auvergne region where we can stroll a market and ask for some…

Bleu D’Auvergne. This bluesy gal is from the Massif Central region that is very mountainous and volcanic with a side of granite. Because of the rich elements you can only imagine what this does for the flavour of a blue cheese. It’s a spicy, strong young thing with the taste of grass and wild flowers. Get her out of the cold about an hour before serving and you will be rewarded. Perfect served in a salad with nuts and shrooms! Enjoy with a Cote du Rhone or Port. Salute!
