Herma’s News – Fun Shopping and Enjoying Warm Nights with Friends
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down. – Mary Pickford
Dear Customers,
We love warm nights spent with friends and family outdoors, and for us, yummy gourmet foods are always part of that equation. We also love a fun afternoon of shopping and believe Herma’s is the perfect place for that.
Shopping at Herma’s
From fragrances for men and women, Jellycat stuffed animals for children, to jewelry, cookware, food and home décor – there is something for everyone. A couple of our favourites? VIDDA Jewelry and Baggallini Purses.
VIDDA Jewelry
We love VIDDA’s silver and gold-plated pieces of handcrafted jewelry from Spain featuring original designs that evoke an elegant, contemporary style.
VIDDA’s Artistry Revealed – How they do it…
They fill their molds with a nickel-free metal alloy which, when extracted, are polished on a rotating drum, then bathed in 24 karat gold or sterling silver, depending on the design. After that they are polished again by hand and are combined with vegetable tanned leather, a unique alloy or Swarovski crystals to create genuine pieces with their own personality.
Baggallini Handbags
Baggallini handbags and totes are stylish, but more than that, they will keep you organized with cleverly placed pockets. We think the 3-in-1 Tote (top) is exceptional as it is designed so that you may hold it by the handles, wear with a shoulder strap or carry as a backpack.
Party Time
Find drink mixes and barware that will make this spring and summer an endless string of fun, festive nights with family and friends.

A Delicious Grilling Alternative? Pizza!!
Prepare and grill your pizza in style with these amazing tools found at Herma’s.
Pizza Peels
Perfect for building pizzas, slipping them in and out of the oven (or on or off the BBQ), slicing and serving.
Emile Henry Pizza Stone
Emile Henry’s flame technology allows the pizza stone to withstand high temperatures of up to 930 degrees F, like, ahmmm, on a BBQ. Durable and scratch-resistant, you may also slice your pizza directly on the tray. Freezer, Dishwasher, Oven and BBQ safe!
Dreamfarm Scizza – Pizza cutter and spatula in one!
Slice your pizza with special precision scissors without losing cheese and toppings (which is often the case when using regular pizza cutters). It may also be used as a spatula to move pizza slice from stone or peel to plate.
Herma’s Pizza Ingredients
Preparing pizza can be as easy as you like by using already made pizza crust from Manoucher or made-from-scratch with special dough mix. We also have the cheese along with an endless selection of pizza toppings as seen in the list below.
Pizza Crust from Manoucher – Urban Slicer Worx Pizza Dough Mix – Pomodoro San Marzano Tomatoes – Pizza Sauce – Sweet Cherry Tomatoes – Parmigiano Reggiano DOP – Pecorino Romano DOP – Buffalo Mozzarella – Gruyere – Pizza Toppings like Salami, Prosciutto, Chorizo, Bacon, Artichokes, Grilled Peppers, Olives (all types), Sundried Tomatoes, Roasted Peppers, Dehydrated Mushrooms, Anchovies, Pesto and more
When using Buffalo Mozzarella for your pizza…
Buffalo Mozzarella is the most commonly used cheese for pizza both in Naples and the rest of Italy. It contains a lot of moisture so be sure to dry by dividing into 3-4 pieces and placing in a mesh strainer, covered, in a fridge for 2 hours.
No time for pizza? Try this…
Prosciutto & Buffalo Mozzarella on Crostini
Top crostini with a slice of fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. Grill or broil the toasts for 2 minutes, or just until the mozzarella begins to melt. Remove from the grill or broiler and top with salt, pepper and fresh basil.
Herma’s Cheese Shop
While writing about the Fuse & Sip Kits for a night of fun on the patio I couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would be to sit outside in the cool of the night with friends also enjoying the ooey-gooey, seductively satisfying goodness of baked brie. Toppings may include fruit preserves, honey and/or crumbled nuts. We like topping the brie with any one of Saltspring Kitchen’s Fruit Spreads (Hot Mango Spicy Pepper, Sparkling Apricot & Pink Peppercorn, Peach & Pepper, Raspberry & Habanero and also Sour Cherry, Rhubarb & Rosemary). Consider making the Brie dippable by cutting the top of the rind from the cheese.
