Ilchester® Applewood Smoked Cheddar cheese is naturally smoked with applewood embers and then lightly dusted with paprika. They describe it as “a traditional farmhouse Cheddar with a delicate smoky flavour and a lovely smooth texture, all finished with a dusting of paprika for good measure.”
Standing the test of time, Applewood was first created in 1965, retaining an enthusiastic fan club to this day.
This English Cheddar is a fairly dense semi-hard cheese with a wonderfully smoky flavour, which has helped to make it one of the United Kingdom’s favourite cheeses. It is creamy with a velvet texture. Its smokiness provides depth and woodsy flavour. The paprika on the outside is more for decoration than anything else and you’ll likely not even taste it.
Delectable melted on pork chops, or sliced with sweet apples and raisins.The cheese is preferably paired with an English Beer, or served with crusty bread and a food-friendly wine.
